Choose a Tribe. For the first four weeks of the class, you will research a Native American tribe of your choice. This research will be used in your Final Project. Take some time to look ahead at the Week Five Final Project instructions for more details on how your research will be presented.
For this week’s assignment, you will choose a tribe that is not one of the tribes featured in the textbook. If you are having trouble choosing a tribe, use “The List of Tribes for Research” (available to download in the online classroom). If you wish to choose another tribe that is not on the list, you can search encyclopedias like Cassell's Peoples, Nations and Cultures, The Hutchinson Encyclopedia, and the Encyclopedia of North American Indians, which can be found in the Ashford University Library. But, be aware that these encyclopedias are not considered scholarly sources and should not be used as one of the required sources for your Final Project.
Once you have selected and researched your tribe, you will construct an essay containing: A paragraph identifying and describing the tribe, including its size and location.
A bibliography of at least four scholarly references, in addition to the textbook, that you may use as you work on your Final Project.
