Trinity Industries, Inc. (the Company) is a Dallas-based, diversified company in the industrial sector of the railroads industry. The Company got its start in 1944 as Trinity Steel, a butane tank manufacturer. In 1958, Trinity Steel merged with competitor Dallas Tank (founded in 1933) to form Trinity Steel, Inc. as a publicly-traded company. The Company changed its name to Trinity Industries in 1967 to reflect its growing diversified product lines, and was incorporated in Delaware in 1987.
